By definition, a technical solution is defined by applying knowledge and methods of a particular subject or job to a specific problem or challenge. (1) (2)

The term technical comes from the Greek “technikos,” meaning art, skillful, from technē art. “Non-technical” is one that is not involved with or not in the class of one who is skillful in the art. (3)

This management bug stems from customers/buyers imposing a technical solution despite not having the needed knowledge of the specific situation.

The buyers are usually not even interested in knowing the intricacies of the technology. (4) For instance, a CEO who pays very close attention to finance, sales, marketing, and other departments might gloss over cybersecurity because they assume they won’t understand much of what happens there.

The perceived divide between “technical people” and the rest of the company can result in poor communication. (5)

These solutions' imposition will typically derive in increased time and cost to get on the right track. The best products/services designs emerge from diversity and cooperative definition.
